Big Green Egg Outdoor Kitchen: The EGG, Built In
Built into an outdoor kitchen, a Big Green Egg gains what a freestanding one lacks: worktop space beside it, storage for tools and charcoal, and water and refrigeration close at hand. It still smokes, grills, roasts and bakes.
How to Integrate a Big Green Egg
The Big Green Egg requires specifically designed housing for built-in installation. The ceramic body generates significant outer heat, so the surround must be heat-resistant (stone, brick, or stainless steel work). Adequate ventilation space around the ceramic is essential for cooling and preventing heat damage to nearby materials.
A proper built-in EGG includes a ceramic-safe surround with ventilation, a heat-resistant worktop near the EGG, storage for tools and accessories, and clearance for the dome to open fully.
Recommended EGG Sizes for Kitchen Integration
The Large, our best seller, is big enough for serious cooking and compact enough for a standard island. The XLarge suits kitchens built for entertaining larger groups. Both can be built into a custom surround.
